Shortly before 1am the Broomall Fire Co. along with mutual aid agencies were dispatched to the 2600blk of West Chester Pike, Marple Twp. for a commercial building fire. Marple Township Police Department officers located a working fire in an auto repair shop, notifying Delaware County Emergency Services 911. Quint 53 arrived to find fire in the ceiling/roof area and initiated an interior fire attack, while Ladder 41 (Newtown Square Fire Company) and Ladder 35 (Brookline Volunteer Fire Company - Station 35) vented the roof. Additional agencies assisted with water supply and overhaul of the building. West Chester Pike was closed for a short period of time, but has since reopened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
