Shortly before 11pm the Broomall Fire Co. was alerted to a house fire in the 100blk of Overlook Drive in Marple Twp. Chief 53 arrived to find a 2.5 story carriage home with smoke pushing from the front door and a reported kitchen on fire. First arriving units made an interior fire attack and primary search of the residence, while quickly finding the residential sprinklers activated and were holding the fire in check. Crews were able to complete fire extinguishment, check for extension and secure the sprinkler system to prevent further water damage. Additional adjacent carriage homes were evacuated as a precaution and the sole occupant of the fire building escaped prior to the arrival of fire units with out injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
