Firefighters are the backbone of the fire company working as a team responding to a variety of emergencies such as fires, vehicle rescues, and hazardous materials incidents. Firefighters routinely train to sharpen skills and techniques used in the industry to better prepare to mitigate emergency incidents. Firefighters are required to complete fire school training and fire apparatus qualification testing to be certified in the BFC. Firefighters fall under the direction/coordination of the Fire Chiefs & Fire Line Officers.

Note: Minimum 18 years old to be a firefighter, must be 21 to drive fire apparatus.

Fire Police Officers provide support around the fire incident, helping coordinate traffic and pedestrian flow, while providing a safety buffer zone to protect responders working on an incident scene. Fire Police Officers are required to complete training in traffic and incident management and qualification testing on their respective apparatus. Fire Police Officers fall under the direction/coordination of the Fire Chiefs & the Captain/Lieutenant of Fire Police.
