Attic Fire Damages Marple Home
Shortly after 5pm BFC firefighters along with mutual aid agencies were alerted to a residential house fire in the 800blk of Crestview Drive in Marple Twp. Early reports indicated a roof on fire and possible entrapment within the structure. First arriving units encountered a fire in the attic area and spreading rapidly along the roof with all occupants safely out of the residence.
As the initial engine and ladder companies began working on the fire, multiple mutual aid companies began working on establishing a positive water supply. This area of Marple Twp. is scarce with hydrants, with the nearest one in this case sitting approximately 5000’ away. With that in mind, and existing pre-plans in place, this calls for additional units to be dispatched. These units work immediately to help supply more hose and water not normally called in areas well equipped with fire hydrants.
Due the quick action of the first arriving companies, booster tank shuttling, and coordination to establish a positive water supply, the fire was contained to the attic area with minimal fire extension into the 2nd floor.
The cause of the is under investigation by the PSP Fire Marshal and no injuries were reported.
Thank you to our mutual aid companies who assisted, we greatly appreciate the help!
