Leaking Propane Tank Draws HazMat Team to Marple
The BFC was dispatched to Winchester Road in Marple Township on late Sunday night for a gas leak. The fire company responded and found a large underground propane tank leaking. Incident command deemed it necessary to contact Delco DES for the Hazmat Response Team. Representatives responded along with contractors to attempt to secure a leak on a defective relief valve that was venting.
With Engine, Truck and Squad 53 already on the scene, An additional engine company from Springfield Fire Co. was dispatched for manpower along with Marple EMS.
Companies were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
