Engine, Squad, & Traffic 53 responded to the unit block of Verona Road, Marple Twp. for a reported trash truck on fire.  Sanitation crews noted a fire inside the hopper and took quick action to empty the contents to prevent further damage to the truck.  While dumping the load creates a large mess, this is the quickest way to spread out the contents to extinguish the fire correctly and prevent expensive damage to the equipment.  The fire was quickly handled by first arriving apparatus and Marple Twp. Public Works cleaned up the trash and cleared the roadway.
