House Fire Claims One; MTPD & Bystander Rescue Another

At approximately 9pm last evening the Broomall Fire Company was dispatched to a reported house fire with entrapment in the 700blk of St. Francis Drive, Marple Twp. Prior to the first arriving fire crew, officers from Marple Township Police Department along with bystanders were able to extricate one subject from the rear of the residence. Chief & Engine 53 arrived to find heavy fire conditions on the first floor C/D corner of the structure and the confirmation of a second trapped victim. Engine 53 and Squad 53 crews initiated a fire attack and search of the residence. Additional arriving crews began ventilation of the roof and assisted interior crews with fire extinguishment and overhaul. The first victim removed by police/bystanders was transported by EMS to CCMC in critical condition. Unfortunately, the second trapped subject was found deceased inside the home. The BFC wishes to extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victims.
